After democracy was established in 2008 and with the liberalization of media license, numerous magazines, private newspapers and FM radio stations have come into play in the country. A greater convergence of the media and the Information and Communication Technology, increased usage of the cell phones, and the proliferation of the internet has added a complexity to the media environment which has made a significant impact on the Bhutanese population.
