Hi there, this is a copy of my assignment it is a 1800 word essay for a philosophy subject in my strategic communication course. I'd prefer questions 1 or 2 to be answered Whichever is the easiest would be fine. Assessment criteria: When assessing your written work your markers will take into account the following criteria: evidence that you understand the significance of relationships/networks/communities on questions of responsibility for making moral judgements in professional contexts; that you have raised some critical questions about the ways in which the theories you have examined address the issues discussed; that you have made a reasonable effort to research your topic using at least one source outside the readings provided; that you have tried to develop a strong case for the claim you are making; that the structure of your essay supports the development of your argument; independence of thought; clarity; relevance of your discussion to the set question; good English expression; appropriate use of references and incorporation of a bibliography. Description of Task Choose one of the following questions and answer it. 1. Outline and compare the key ideas underpinning the liberal individualist and communitarian social ethics and explain the different roles they assign to strategic / professional communications, for example, in relation to addressing the public interest. 2. What reasons does John Stuart Mill give in favour of freedom of expression for the media industry? Do you agree with Mill’s arguments? In your answer discuss what this might mean for media coverage of racist or sexist attitudes. 3. Describe a situation in which you think an ethics of care would be more suited to guiding ethical action as compared to one of the classical moral theories. Would you draw the same conclusion for a professional situation in which it is important to act fairly and impartially in relation to all concerned? In other words, do you think that an ethics of care can accommodate the need to act fairly and impartially? Illustrate your answer using examples from any strategic communications industry. 4. How do liberal individualist and communitarian approaches explain the media’s responsibility to act in the public interest? In your answer outline differences and similarities in the two approaches and explain your claims using examples from the media. 5. Do professionals have an ethical responsibility to see that their services meet social justice standards like access and equity? Discuss the merits of appealing to the idea of the common good. 6. Do professionals working in the media and strategic communication industries have ethical responsibilities toward the common good? If so, what are these responsibilities and how might they be balanced against their employers’ conflicting executive decisions? In your answer discuss the merits of a shared agency model of decision-making. 7. What should you say or do when your personal ethical standards conflict with something your employer demands / expects from you? Do we have a right to exercise our conscience against the legitimate demands of our employer? In your answer outline and assess Martin’s claim that we have such a right. 8. Whistleblowing refers to the practice of making public information to which you have access through your employment on moral grounds, such as the public interest. Is speaking out ever morally justifiable and if so under what conditions?
