Internet of Things (IoT) has disrupted the role of Big Data in business environments of multiple industries
through the proliferation of highly granular and actionable information. As discussed in class and
demonstrated in the tutorial, there’s huge potential for diverse applications. The third assignment aims to
explore the role of Internet of Things within an industry of your choice through research and review of
relevant resources.
You are required to identify such an industry, conduct a comprehensive literature search on the
implications of IoT, collate and analyse your findings/readings, identify the key areas you wish to discuss
and compile a professionally written report as your assignment submission.
The report should focus on key aspects applicable to the chosen industry, including (but not limited to);
• Business value (from business questions to actionable outcomes)
• Technology (separately for IoT information management and analytics)
• Data (sources, integration and data quality issues)
• Other factors (privacy, ethics, organisational issues)
Report guidelines
1. Choose a fitting sequence of sections/topics for the body of the report.
2. Page limit: 3-5 pages (not more than 5 pages).
3. Report should be written in Microsoft Word (font size 11) and submitted as a Word file.
Marking rubric
A grade will be awarded to each of the tasks and then an overall mark determined for the entire
assessment. The rubric below gives you an idea of what you must achieve to earn a certain ‘grade’.
As a general rule, to meet a ‘C’, you must first satisfy the requirements of a ‘D’. And for an ‘A’, you must
first satisfy the requirements of a ‘B’, which must of course first meet the requirements of a ‘C’ and so on.
The marking rubric for this assignment is given below.

Introduction
IoT (Internet of Things) can be described as the interconnection of the things in the physical world
(including or having sensors within) and the Internet. These things are connected to the internet either
with wires or wireless devices/connections. The things or devices are liable to collect data from the
physical world around us, using the sensors and network connectivity within and then spread or share the
