Students will be required to submit a research paper based around a preferred chosen condition. Please notify the
Instructor of the chosen condition in advance, for approval. This paper should include all current documentation and
up-to-date research on the condition. The case study will need to discuss all pertinent functional anatomy, known
causes and how the condition presents. This paper will also encompass five actual assessments and treatments of a
client who is symptomatic of the condition.
Please find a client, friend or family member who is symptomatic of a condition that has been presented within this
years curriculum texts or study guides. The chosen client will need to be available for five separate sessions in which a
full assessment (HOPRS) is documented and treatment is performed each time. It is not necessary for this person to be
diagnosed by a physician as having the condition you choose, only that their symptoms correlate with the condition you
are focusing your research on.
Students are required to properly acknowledge references within the case study using the Modern Language Association
(MLA) format. MLA uses in-text citations that correspond with a Works Cited page found at the end of your paper.
There are many MLA citation generators on the internet to help properly cite all sources. Also, students can access this
concise and easy guide written by Eric Garcia at http://library.csun.edu/egarcia/documents/mlacitation_quickguide.pdf
The purpose of the case study is to track and evaluate assessments, charting and treatments on a continuing basis. It is a
valuable learning experience which will allow student to recognize abilities in action while monitoring progression over
an extended time period with a client. Researching the condition gives students the benefit of being expertly
knowledgeable about the suspected pathology as assessment, treatment, charting and re- assessment unfolds.
Please include within your paper the following sections:
1. Cover page
2. Table of contents
3. Etiology

Hallux valgus is known as Bunion which is a deformity disease of the big toe. In bunion, deformation observes in the joint which is connecting the big toe to the foot. In this condition, big toe of the foot often bends towards the middle toe of the foot as a result inflammation and pain appears. The process is developed in gradual manners. Thus the complications can worsen by addition of arthritis. The curve of big toe towards the small toes results in a bony lump on the inside of the foot. In many cases, it has been observed that a soft fluid swelling develops over the bony lump. This condition is ended of knuckle-bone of the big toe.
