Governance and Fraud Part 2 (1,500 words; 10 marks): There have been numerous corporate fraud cases in the past decades, most of which caused the companies affected to subsequently experience financial difficulties and embarrassment. You are required to research on twodifferent fraud cases which took place in the recent 5 years and discuss the fraud types, how they were exposed and provide your views on how they could have been prevented. Instructions • Provide a table of contents (excluded in word count) and ensure all questions are clearly labelled. • Harvard style of referencing to be employed (reference list is excluded in word count). • Written in font size 12 for body writing; headings and block quotes may have different sizes. • Include page numbers • Line spacing of 1.5 or double spacing Tips: • Detail is required on how the fraud was actually conducted (for example, in a financial statement fraud case, what accounts were manipulated?). • The suggestions regarding how the board, internal auditor and external auditor could have prevented and detected the fraud should be more case study specific. For example, rather than simply stating 'good internal control', what internal controls would have been useful in the fraud case selected? Or, for example, if a code of conduct was recommended, what should have been included in the code of conduct? • Need to discuss the fraud risk factors and relating these to the case studies.
