Your assignmentMUSTinclude a title page which should clearly indicate: Your name Student number Student email address Tutor's name Tutorial day and time or Study Mode Name of the company Semester and campus details (ie. Semester 1, 2014 - Bentley) Include a Title that clearly describes your essay. Remember that titles are important in writing a paper, as they set the scene and give an insight into your ideas. A minimum number of referenceshas notbeen set for this assignment. Rather, you are encouraged to read widely and broadly and use references to support your arguments as much as possible. You may refer to sources such as Wikipedia and Google as a starting point to understand some of the social intangibles or big issues for the company.Do not however include Wikipedia, Google Books or similar sources in your reference list or in-text citations. You will need to refer to non-scholarly sources such as newspapers and company records to gauge an understanding of the contemporary issues. These are acceptable for inclusion in your reference list. Ensure you discuss the source within the context of their bias. Journal articles should also be used to further substantiate your arguments and link to the theories discussed in the unit. Ensure that you refer to the Chicago Referencing guide (Version 16) for assistance in the application of the conventions. If you are new to referencing, visit the Libguide Tab on Blackboard for referencing information. This week’s tutorial will explore referencing. Ensure that you do not exceed the 1500 - 1800 word limit as a penalty will apply. The word limit does not include the reference list. To do well in this assignment, you will need to address all of the following: Choose a company Identify one or two social intangible(s)/aspect(s) Identify examples of both negative and positive of performance Examine the impact of the company upon society and particular stakeholders. Present an on-balance conclusion Make sure to refer to the theories and ideas presented in the lectures. Remember this is an academic audience and theories should be presented in your paper. Refer to the study guide slide from each lecture series for key ideas. Do not describe the situation but critically analyse your findings (e.g. what do these findings mean and to who). You will therefore keep the detail of the company to a minimum and demonstrate how your issue is of significant to the company and groups of stakeholders. You will need to provide evidence to support your opinion on how your chosen company has communicated and performed on the issue. The recorded workshops cover this in detail. Multinational Energy Companies, like Chevron Corporation, have a broad and significant social, economic and environmental impact on the globe and as such are in a position to influence the lives of many people.  Chevron is involved in many different facets of the energy business, including exploration, refining, production and transportation. The company employs approximately 60 000 people in the oil and natural gas industry, with interest in 180 countries (Chevron Corporation SWAT, 2009). With the rise in global communication associated with the information age, companies like Chevron have to establish symbiotic relationships, focused on sustainable development, with society in order to satisfy increasingly environmentally conscious stakeholders. In this context a symbiotic relationship refers to one that is cooperative and mutually beneficial (Langella et al. 2012, 51).  At the foundation of such a relationship is respect for health and wellbeing of communities that interact with the company and its operations. Chevron has displayed care and respect for the local communities and their welfare on a number of occasions, more notably their efforts in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria (HIV/AIDS; Chevron 2010). However this has been eclipsed in the media by the company’s display of profound negligence in their inappropriate waste disposal procedure in Ecuador (Olsen 2002) and reckless conduct in Richmond (Rogers 2013), both occasions had a detrimental impact on the health of those in the local communities. This critical essay will explicitly examine Chevron’s actions and their implications on their stakeholders and more specifically the wellbeing of those in the neighbouring communities
