Culture eats strategy for breakfast was the remark given by Mark Fields who is the president of Ford Motor Company in the year 1996 and it was attributed to Peter Drucker. Through this statement, he wanted to make a remark that irrespective of the stronger strategy been used by the company, if the culture of the organization does not support, it would be a failure. This means that whatever implementation, the company does in order to realize its dreams, it is essential that the organizational culture supports it.
Organizational Culture refers to the core values, vision, mission, norms and the beliefs of the people. It also is determined by the styles and the attitudes of the people working in the company. Culture is developed in the company over ages. It is not a one day task. If the formation takes a long time then changing it will also take significant time. Organizational culture is essential to be healthy. People need to support, coordinate and cooperate with each other. Unity and togetherness is essential for the growth and development of the organization. Unless the policies, beliefs and the employees of the organization support the strategy formulated for the business, the strategy would never be successful. The way the people have belief and are able to understand affects the business of the company (Trompenaars & Hampden-Turner, 1998).
